Essential Reading for the Personal Trainer
There is more to being a personal trainer than simply qualifying and then personal training a few clients. Ongoing continuous professional development is a very important aspect of the job. In fact it is absolutely necessary if you wish to maintain REPs membership.
Some of this development will come from vocational work, some from workshops and some from courses. But of course much of it will also come from home study and reading.
The following is a selection of health and fitness books covering a variety of subjects including anatomy & physiology, stretching, sports massage, sports injury and training. Each book has a place in my own fitness library and I am happy to personally recommend each one. Sports Injuries and the Trail Guide To The Body are particurlarly useful to personal training diploma students and personal trainers who have cause to deal with sports injuries from time to time. Sports massage therapists will also find these books very useful.
